A VERY PLEASANT COMMUNICATION VISUAL YEAR PLAN
Together with the management of Jeugdbescherming West, Buro BRAND has supplemented the annual report from a boring report with a lively and well-communicating discussion board.
Every year, Jeugdbescherming West puts a lot of effort into making an annual report. The result is a thick report that only comes out of the drawer for people who ask difficult controlling questions. Jeugdbescherming West was looking for a document that could serve “on top” or the annual report as an inspiring communication piece. The management did not have a clear picture of what this should be.
Buro BRAND made and facilitated a program for them that started with an accessible visual exercise and ended with a visual annual report that they themselves agreed, tuned and signed (!!). The infographic shows at a glance what the fruits of that year were and what the existing challenges are. The alderman of The Hague thus has a document in his hands with which he can explain what has been achieved in that year and can easily discuss the main points of the subject.
The steps
- Appreciation for visual work is in the genes. Youth protection organizations are very committed to their youth communication. They understand the value of visual communication like no other. It is very different to sign together compared to only getting a “yes” or “no” to each question.
- Every day we make discussion boards for organizations. We experience that a good start with a pleasant co-creation works very well, is almost always fun and leads to a beautiful end result. We have further developed co-creation and made it a skill in itself.
- Together with the communication department and the management of Jeugdbescherming West, we started with a short visual introduction. Subjects were visualized in different groups and then presented to the others. The result: lots of fun; very quickly to the core; amazement at mutual understanding and many ideas about the visualization of the annual report.
- The final visual is determined through a short selection process, in which the best of all ideas came together. It has become a road to a beautiful sunny horizon that Jeugdbescherming West walked in that year.
- The selected other information to be communicated was then simply plotted and visualized on this path. High Five and drink time!
- The infographic has been digitally developed by us and has been made available as a poster, flyer and digital file.
- The alderman of The Hague now likes to talk about the results of the Youth Protection of the past year, supported by the simple visual.
